After having moved to Virginia years ago – and loving it as my SECOND home, I will be heading back to my Sweet Home…Arizona for a long-awaited visit!
And I couldn’t be more Excited!
I am going to be visiting the Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert and Queen Creek areas, participating in an Agri-Tourism trip to Arizona’s East Valley, where a group of businesses have come together to form the East Valley Partnership, a coalition dedicated to the economic development of the area. While there the EVP will be sharing the new sustainable, community-focused agriculture, and their locally-sourced, farm-to-table concepts that make this area of Metro-Phoenix unlike any other in the country.
I am a huge proponent of locally-sourced, farm-to-table and strongly believe in its benefits to the community, locals, and the direction of agriculture in general.
While there, I will be visiting Schnepf Farms, where I will have a chance to tour one of the largest Agri-tourist farms in the country; Queen Creek Olive Mill where I will tour an olive farm.
I will also be visiting TrueGarden, vertical aeroponic food farm and tour one of the first high-tech, solar-powered green houses in the U.S. capable of producing most cool season food crops year-round even in the scorching desert; visit Sossaman Farms / Hayden Flour Mill in Queen Creek with a behind-the-scenes tour of the first ever solar powered mill in America and fourth-generation farm.
Also in my travel plans, I will be heading to Oak Creek and Sedona, for some photo-fun filled two days – where I will be staying at the beautiful Sky Ranch Lodge! Here I will be checking out some Arizona wineries!
More coming next week as I share my experiences, travel suggestions and information from my trip!
