There’s something new trending in travel…it’s Agri-tainment!
It may be new to most, but it is definitely growing in popularity, because it is helping turn Agri-tourism into ‘Foodie’ fun!
I just returned from a week-long visit to my ‘home state’ – the place I spent most of my life – of Arizona. I traveled there to explore this new and exciting travel trend, thanks to a progressive-thinking grew of folks in Arizona’s East Valley – Tempe, Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, Queen Creek.
It has been years since I have been back, and was amazed at the growth and transformation – especially in the East Valley. What was once a remote, sparsely populated, under-developed area out in the middle of the desert, is now a hip, dynamic, thriving and surprisingly clean area South of Metropolitan Phoenix with beautifully designed freeways, roadways, infrastructures, with excellent shopping, great restaurants and great public spaces. Here shopping centers are populated with beautifully landscaped bike paths – bike racks placed appropriately throughout; restaurants have plenty of outdoor seating; public places have misting systems which cool the air so people can enjoy their time outdoors – even in the hottest part of Summer.
And appropriately, theses very forward-thinking folks are helping people – visitors and locals alike – discover the entertainment factor in agriculture. From food to flowers, in farms, fields, orchards, vineyards…and even community-based compost centers that recycle and re-purpose food waste to grow more in beautiful community gardens. There are even residential communities here, incorporating community gardens into, and designed AROUND, community gardens filled with fields of growing produce.
The beauty of Agri-tainment is it is family fun and perfect for family travel. It is also perfect for groups and group travel. It offers something for everyone; all ages can find something to ‘write home about’ with Agri-tainment.
But this is a preview of what I will be covering about my experiences with Agri-tainment and Arizona’s thriving East Valley and all that is new in East Valley development.
Much more to come!
