The World’s first commercially viable rooftop vineyard is located in Brooklyn, NY!

Wine lovers and growers alike…hydroponic growing technology has made its way into the Wine Industry!

Rooftop Reds introduced the world’s first commercially viable urban rooftop vineyard in New York City!

Going well beyond merely bringing viticulture to the urban agriculture industry, Rooftop Reds is spearheading the New York State innovative wine market… and paving the way for a new generation of viticulture enthusiasts!

Now THIS is agritainment NEWS!

Rooftop Reds is located in the Brooklyn Navy Yard – not where a wine lover might expect a terroir that is suitable for viticulture. However, with the help of Finger Lakes industry leaders and Cornell University, this first-of-its-kind urban vineyard commissioned 42 state-of-the-art planters to fill a 14,800 square-foot rooftop.

With these in place, production of a sustainable and completely Brooklyn vintage will be possible

Wine Production: Tasting Wine Produced by the Rooftop

With its first harvest in October 2017, the winery now produces six wines made from grapes sourced from New York State’s Finger Lakes region. These bottles, along with a carefully-curated selection of wine from other Finger Lakes producers such as Sheldrake Point, Hermann J. Wiemer, and Chateau Lafayette, will be available to customers who visit the rooftop this season. It’s a rare opportunity to sample unique, lesser-known wines from the Finger Lakes, an under-appreciated wine region area still largely unknown even amongst New Yorkers.

More Than Just Wine Tasting!

And look for Rooftop Redsto host a series of events in New York’s most unique wine venue.

These include: rooftop vineyard happy hours, pop-up dining experiences, wine, cheese and chocolate tastings, pizza-wine-movie nights, summer BBQ’s and educational viticulture tours, among many others!

AGRITRACTIONS!

Agritourism Destinations are among some of the latest trends in travel. Forward-thinking Tourism Professionals and Community Planners are coming up with new ways to fuel the ever-growing public curiosity and demand for more Agritourism. From planting hydroponic gardens for patrons to enjoy tower-to-table fresh produce, to scene-setting vertical gardens for ambience and aesthetics, restaurant, wineries, resorts, event centers – even airports – are creating their own agritractions.

CHEF'S GARDEN
Add an Urban Garden or Agritraction
In many states, like Colorado, demand for “locally grown” far exceeds supply as 97% of leafy greens, consumed annually, are imported from out of state. (California, Arizona). This demand – especially in densely populated cities – creates its own dilemmas as many downtown, overcrowded areas are miles from any local producer. So forward-thinking restaurateurs are growing their own - and treating patrons to the enjoyable ambience of 'sitting in a garden'! From garden-side, to patio-centered and even rooftop gardens, these forward-thinking chefs and restaurant owners provide their patrons with local, organic, sustainable and overall responsible produce procurement - which their patrons can actually see!

But it's not just restaurants that are providing this 'agritainment'. It is wineries, breweries, beer gardens, convention centers, shopping malls...and even grocery stores with in-store cafes. How? More ...
